Found a Queen
This was an interesting find today. I had the drippings left over from extracting honey. The stuff that comes from the was you get decapping. This lady flew right in and got herself stuck. This late in the year there is little chance that she's a viable queen. Most likely unfertilized and pretty much doomed. However, I let her loose on a empty box that I've been letting the local wild bees clean out for me on the back deck. Maybe she'll find something to do there or follow some bees home or something. I dunno.

Kewaunee Vacation?
Well it wasn't all vacation but I did get quite a few pictures taken.
The evening sky over the Blomer farm in Onamia as seen from Jo and Al's Barnhouse.
Dan and Adele's house in Canyon, MN
Neat little hummingbird in the trees near Bloomer, WI
Hummingbird at a feeder at my Aunt Tina's house near Bloomer, WI
More hummers
Dad doing what he does best
The skies were pretty vivid
Geneva and Mom up on the foredeck
A wind farm from far out at 300mm. We were about 3 miles away from the farm, this was the best shot I could get from the water.

Working in the Kitchen
Anna and I have been doing some house repair recently. We repainted the kitchen ceiling after pulling out a few cabinets and put up a stainless steel dish rack for drying dishes where those cabinets were. Then we started the big job. . . Stripping, staining and polying the cabinets. Here's a shot of the stained bottom cabinets before the poly went on.

Moar Pictures.
I've got some zoom on the camera now so I grabbed a picture of this hummingbird.
Here you can see about how far the lil guy is away. He was on the very top of that tree that hasn't leafed out yet in the middle of this shot.
Another shot of the lil guy.
My Hiabiscus Plant keeps flowering pretty. Wish it would do better on the growing leaves part.
The black bamboo is going crazy and doing what it's supposed to. See those husked over shoots? It grows up as a stalk coated in those, probably 2' per day. Then it branches out over about a week and now, the ones that are about 1.5 weeks old are STARTING to leaf out. It's a wierd, ugly process but. . . they'll look nice soon.
I like Ruby Glow. . Anna knows it's scientific name, I do not.
I have new lenses!

Driving back from Amanda's wedding, Anna, Zach Beth and I took the long route up between Nevada and California. We went through Death Valley and up the border to Yosemite. Of course, I forgot Yosemite is closed for the winter along with just about all of the passes. Eventually we ended up going through South Lake Tahoe to get over the mountains. It was raining and pea soup foggy up there but we made it through. Took like 12 hours total, we were tired.
Beth got to meet some cows, it was a good trip for her. On a side note, Zach is afraid of cows; who knew?
There were lots of mountains. . . Lots
But that was ok because there were fun roads to drive fast down.
Though, sometimes when you drive fast, you do things you didn't mean to.
And after driving for like 10 hours straight, you get a little tired.
So you stop to look at the cool clouds and stuff.
