Ben and I Started Gardening

My friend Ben has a backyard with some extra room and soil. What he doesn't have is experience gardening. Together we make a team. Anna and I went with him to Stanford on Saturday to get some toys and on Sunday we started making his garden. Wow, double-digging compacted soil is HARD. Mostly sand with fat clay. Not much for organics however, I did finally find one worm once we started getting out of the super compacted areas. We got Ben's side done and now just need to work on mine and get compost. We're also going to do some heavy metal testing.

Hinkley In Pictures

So I got sent on this business trip quite possibly to hell. . Hinkley,CA, the PG&E Hinkley Compressor Station more commonly refered to as the Erin Brokovitch Site. You've seen the movie, here's some pictures I've been snapping with my phone of the 'scenery'.

Alemany Farms

So, Anna and I have been volunteering at Alemany Farms recently. I've been asked to figure out how to take down the windmill and get it rebuilt along with our gardening. It's been a lot of fun and I thought I'd throw up some pictures of it.

Ahhhhhh, home

I'm really enjoying working at Arcadis so far. The commute is a breeze even if I can't park my bike in the building. I'll figure out a place to stash it this weekend. The bus ride, should I choose to take it, is comparable to the bike ride, about 20 minutes easy each way. People in the office are nice and it's a nice group and they seem to take care of their own. Sorry for the blurry pictures, camera phone.

Preperations For a New Employer

So I bought a bike yesterday. 64cm StarFrance. Yeah, it's going to be a pain being a french spec bike and all but I'll manage. It's tall enough for me and the price was right. Anna scored a nice bike about a week back as well and we're scheduling a run over to a bike store Wednesday for new brake pads and tires which we both desperatly need.

I start Arcadis on the 25th of June. I don't think I'm going to bike the FIRST day as I don't know where I'll put the bike when I get there. Day 2 however, bike day beings.

Ric, better be ready with that soda blaster.

Looks like I'm going to be working for these guys. I just got word this morning that corporate has approved my hire and I shall get the paperwork tomorrow morning. This means a shift in work from San Jose (45 miles each way) to Financial District SF (3.3miles each way). These guys are the ones who designed this:

Graduation Cake

Andrew Hyder graduated from SF State last weekend and had a graduation party. Anna and I decided to make him a cake. . . It got a little out of hand.

Working on my weather RSS Feed

Developing: Over on the right you'll see the current weather at my place in San Francisco. You can also view it (probably better) at http://www.finn.ws/weather.py. I'm still working on the kinks and stuff on this blog rss feed stuff so I don't know if it will truely work. . I may need a non-cached image to make it work correctly. We'll see.

Startup

So, I keep getting told I should start a blog. . why, I say, no one's going to read it. Anyway, my sister started on for pictures of my niece so I signed up to post comments. Who knows, maybe I'll blog some. . . . . someday.
